Short description
The standard presents a methodology and thus a general procedure for tolerance management of linkages. Theoretical basics as well as tools and procedures for sensitivity analysis, tolerance analysis and synthesis are discussed. These can enable a quantitative assessment and subsequent optimization of the product and the associated processes at an early stage. The presented methodology is communicated by means of checklists, which contain the most important criteria and working points for a successful product development process. Tolerance management is divided into 16 steps, whereby the individual checklists can be used separately for each point. The application of the standard and the use of checklists brings economic benefits, since tools are provided which allow the tolerance of the individual components to be set according to the principle of "as accurate as necessary; as imprecise as possible".
