Short description

Flares are devices for the targeted oxidation of combustible gases that cannot be used for energy or material purposes or fed into a suitable waste gas purification system. Flares are often used when large quantities of gases are to be expected discontinuously, e.g. in the case of operational malfunctions and safety valves that are relevant to emissions. The specification of emission limitations as well as their metrological monitoring are not possible or only possible to a limited extent. Therefore, the description of emission reduction measures in this standard is of particular importance. This standard applies to all types of flare systems for the combustion of gases.
