The borders between the German-speaking countries in the EU region are becoming more and more fluid; many events don’t just take place in one country but in several of the countries in the DACH area. Many people in the event sector also enjoy working in German-speaking places abroad; commuters are no longer only limited to the immediate border areas. This book supports event agencies and individuals in cross-border work by naming and comparing national peculiarities in event law. It also provides the basis for further research into specific issues and special cases. Despite its substantial scope, the book is easy to use thanks to its clear structure; a comprehensive index also makes it easier to work with.

Because a direct comparison does not make sense due to the various approaches in the three countries, the situations for the DACH countries are represented in three separate chapters: The book is not just designed for making comparisons, it is also a valuable store of knowledge for each country.   The approaches in the German-speaking countries to event location, contractual rules, approvals, fire safety, taxes and social dues and copyright are similar enough to be covered in each of the three chapters on the countries.

  The capital on Austria contains also contains information on the types of events that play a completely different and much bigger role in this country. The “Switzerland” chapter look in detail at the necessary contractual rules, which are considerably more complex here due to the lower level of state regulation.

The book also provides an annex on event law in South Tyrol since the autonomous province of Bolzano has its own provincial and event law.
