About this product

DIN SPEC 91345:2016-04 describes a standard Reference Architecture Model for Industry 4.0 called “RAMI4.0”. A three-dimensional layer model, RAMI4.0 depicts a basic architecture for Industry 4.0 using a sophisticated coordinate system.

RAMI 4.0 is an important step towards implementing Industry 4.0 at a practical level. The model can be used to represent technical objects – called “assets” – which can be tangible or intangible, along the entire value chain. The purpose of this model is to represent the technical object, and all aspects relevant to it, from its development, production and use right through to its disposal. The model also shows on which level and in which phase each “Industry 4.0 component” plays a role, and where that component interacts with other components at other levels.

What is Industry 4.0?

Industry 4.0 is the merging of real production with the virtual world. Production cycles are shortened, customer needs are incorporated in real time, maintenance and the filling of orders are carried out automatically. The result: The "smart" factory.

What is a DIN SPEC?

The DIN Specification, or “DIN SPEC”, is a new standardization deliverable introduced by DIN to meet the changing needs of its customers in the face of rapidly changing framework conditions. Because they do not require the full consensus of all stakeholders, DIN SPECs can be drawn up much faster than a standard.
