This standard has been prepared by Working Committee "Anlagen zur Löschwasserversorgung einschließlich Wandhydranten" ("Installations for supply of water for firefighting including hose systems") (NA 031-03-05 AA) of the Firefighting and Fire Protection Standards Committee (FNFW) at DIN. This standard is applicable to valves for ventilation in water systems for fire extinguishing "dry" or "wet/dry" in accordance with DIN 1988-600 and DIN 14462. The standard is not applicable to valves for ventilation or air separators for use in closed heating systems. The standard is also not applicable to components in subterranean water supply systems in accordance with DIN EN 805 or DVGW Work Sheet W 400.
