Overview

DIN 19277 "Condition monitoring and diagnostics of machines - Thermography - General procedures (ISO 18434-1:2008 modified)" has been prepared by the national Working Committee NA 062-08-27 AA "Visuelle und thermographische Prüfung" ("Visual and thermographic methods") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP). The draft standard has been published as DIN ISO 18434-1:2014-12. The International Standard ISO 18434-1:2008-03 "Condition monitoring and diagnostics of machines - Thermography - Part 1: General procedures" has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 108, "Mechanical vibration, shock and condition monitoring", Subcommittee SC 5, "Condition monitoring and diagnostics of machines" and has been adopted into DIN 19277 with national modifications. The standard provides an introduction to the application of infrared thermography for condition monitoring and diagnostics of machines, where the term "machines" includes additional equipment for machines, for example valves, fluid and electrically operated machines, and machine-related heat exchange devices. In addition, IR applications used to assess the performance of machines are covered.
