Overview

This standard applies for the configuration and construction of safety devices against unintentional descent on stationary accesses to process apparatus. As a rule they are walked on during controlling and maintenance work of these apparatus. Applicability shall be tested for enamelled, lined or coated apparatus as well as apparatus made of non-ferrous metals or plastics. This standard specifies three designs: - safety door (with one or two kneerails); - safety rails with one kneerail; - barrier. Safety devices against unintentional descent in accordance with this standard are designed for a horizontal force at the height of the hand rail of 500 N/m. This standard has been prepared by NA 012 Chemical Apparatus Standards Committee (FNCA), Working Committee NA 012-00-01 AA "Anlagenteile" ("Process equipment").
