This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-06-14 AA "Chromatographische Analyse" ("Chromatographic analysis") at Technical Section "Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM)" at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP). This document applies to used gasoline and diesel engine oils. This document specifies a method for determining low-boiling fractions in used engine oils. These fractions provide an indication of the fuel dilution of the oil. Fuel can, for example, condense in the engine cylinder due to incomplete combustion and thus be carried into the engine oil. The fuels are gasoline, for example according to DIN EN 228, and diesel fuels based on mineral oil, for example according to DIN EN 590. This document does not apply to fatty acid methyl esters according to DIN EN 14214 and vegetable oil according to DIN 51605 or DIN 51623, nor to gaseous fuels or fuels with a high alcohol content (for example E85).
This document replaces DIN 51380:1990-11 .
