Overview

The method outlined in this document serves for determination of ash value of carbonaceous and graphite materials (solid materials), for example raw (green), calcined or graphitized petroleum cokes, pitch cokes, anthracites, soot, natural graphites, hard coal cokes or products manufactured from them, such as green, burned or graphitized carbonaceous materials. This document is not applicable to anthracites and hard coal cokes which are used as solid fuels. The method outlined in this document is not applicable to high-purity carbonaceous and graphite materials with ash values lower than 0,01 % (mass fraction) and to binders. Crushed materials are used to determine ash value. The committee responsible for this standard is Working Committee NA 062-02-81 AA "Prüfverfahren für Kohlenstoff und Graphit" ("Testing of carbonaceous materials") at DIN.
