This document specifies, in addition to the general safety requirements in accordance with DIN EN 13451-1, safety requirements for climbing walls for use in the water area of public used swimming pools and shall be read in conjunction with it. Requirements for use, operation and maintenance are also specified. For the aspects where overlaps occur with DIN EN 13451-1 or DIN EN 13451-10, the requirements of this standard take precedence over DIN EN 13451. This standard applies for climbing walls in classified swimming pools in accordance with the specifications in DIN EN 15288-1. The market for climbing walls for use in the water area of public used swimming pools is specific and is constantly developing. It is impossible create overall safety requirements - as required in a standard - including all dimensions and design requirements, without restricting the opportunities and to prevent innovative and new, but safe products. This DIN is intended to specify safety requirements and implementation guidelines that serve all parties involved in climbing walls for use in the water area of public used swimming pools, in particular planners, manufacturers, operators and users, in order to achieve as far as possible products. It assumes that basically the use of climbing walls poses a higher risk for users than swimming. The use of the climbing wall therefore requires a certain degree of personal responsibility in terms of sports equipment. These safety requirements shall be observed and met in order to avoid a hazard for users as far as possible. A standard or handbook with information and information for use for climbing walls for use in the water area of public used swimming pools is used as the most suitable way for improvement of safety. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 112-05-01 AA "Schwimmbadanlagen und -geräte" ("Swimming pool facilities and equipment") at DIN.
