This Type C standard contains safety regulations. It contains the German version of Amendment A1:2000 to EN 12629-5-1:2003, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany), at the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Working Committee NA 060-13-10 "Betonsteinmaschinen" ("Concrete block making machines") of Technical Section Construction equipment and building material machines of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of concrete block making machines, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations are involved in the preparation of the standard. This European Standard defines, in connection with the previously valid standard EN 12629-5-1:2003, relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This part of EN 12629 applies, together with EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010, to machines for vertical manufacture of pipes, manholes and similar concrete elements. This document describes the additional requirements to and/or the deviations from EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010 specific to the machines it covers. This European Standard deals with all significant hazards pertinent to these machines when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see clause 4). This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards. This European Standard applies to pipe-making machines manufacturing in the vertical axis which may form an integral part of a pipe making process plant. This standard deals with the safety requirements and/or the protective measures which apply for these machines. Within the framework of the adaptation to the new Machinery Directive, the following modifications have been made with respect to EN 12629-5-1:2003-12: - amendment of the foreword; - amendment of the introduction; - modification and update of the scope (clause 1); - update of the normative references (clause 2); - modification and update of clause 3 (Definitions); - modification and update of the significant hazards in clause 4; - modification and update of the safety requirements and/or protective measures in clause 5; - modification and update of the verification of safety requirements and/or protective measures in clause 6; - update of the information for use in clause 7; - update of the marking in clause 8; - update of the table headings of Figures B.1 to B.4 in Annex B (Hazard zones); - update of the informative Annex ZA about the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of EU Directive 2006/42/EC; - deletion of the Bibliography.
