This document (EN 14908-6:2009) provides mechanisms through which various vendors of building automation, control, and building management systems may exchange information in a standardised way. In this document (EN 14908-6:2010), the following application elements of Control Network Protocol packets are specified: Definitions of standardised packet (network-variable) data types, definitions of device-interface files, definitions of standardised configuration-property types, definitions of standardised enumeration types, definitions of standardised functional profiles and definition of the standardised method of file transfer between devices. The aim of this specification is to ensure interoperability between various Control Network Protocol implementations. Furthermore, this document deals with all the information necessary to read and interpret the format of data and control information that is used by the standard EN 14908-5. It also defines the device interface for a device as specified; this is necessary to exchange data between various devices from different manufacturers. This document (EN 14908-6:2010) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 247 "Building Automation, Controls and Building Management", the secretariat of which is held by SNV (Switzerland). The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 041-03-68 AA "Gebäudeautomation und -kommunikation" ("Building automation and communication") of the Heating and Ventilation Technology Standards Committee (NHRS) at DIN, the German Institute for Standardization e.
