DIN EN 15949:2012-05

This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, the manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This document describes the general safety requirements for machinery and equipment for the manufacture of metal rolled long products from the material supply (oven or continuous casting machine) via various rolling mill process equipment for rails, sections, bars, wire rods (for example, mill stands, roller tables, cooling beds, straightening machines, collecting beds, isolating devices, piling machine) up to the binding and loading area or coil handling and also includes the preparation area. This standard contains the German version of EN 15949:2012 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 322 "Equipment for making and shaping of metals - Safety requirements" of the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation of this standard are represented by Committee NA 060-02-03 AA "Walzwerke und Adjustageeinrichtungen" ("Rolling mills and finishing line equipment") at Technical Section "Equipment for making and shaping of metals" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of interested parties and users of rolling mill machines and of the employers' liability insurance association were involved in the preparation.
