Overview

This European Standard (FpEN 16587:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 256 "Railway applications", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany). The responsible German committee is NA 087-00-11-02 UA "Fahrzeuge und Infrastruktur für mobilitätseingeschränkte Personen" ("Vehicles and infrastructure for people with reduced mobility") at DIN Standards Committee Railway (FSF). This standard describes the specific requirements and their verification for "Design for PRM use" for infrastructure and rolling stock operating on the Trans-European Rail Network (TEN). This document is part of a suite of four 'Design for PRM use' standards that have in total nine parts. FprEN 16587 is a standard that deals with infrastructure entitled "Railway applications - Design for PRM use - Requirements on obstacle free routes for infrastructure". This standard describes these areas using clear and consistent terms and definitions. Where necessary, measurement methods and/or procedures for verification are provided when needed to establish acceptance criteria.
