Overview

CEN/TC 250 decided in 2008 that no revision of the Eurocodes shall be carried out at least until March 2013. However, necessary amendments and corrigenda of the Eurocodes could be published until March 2013. This decision led to a large number of amendments and corrigenda, which were mostly published as separate documents. For better applicability of the Eurocodes together with these separate documents, the DIN prepares consolidated versions as new versions for all Eurocodes affected by this. These consolidated versions then contain the current amendments and corrigenda. In this context, the mentions of replacement on the Eurocodes are also supplemented accordingly. A new edition is also published, even if only the superseding note is to be supplemented. DIN EN 1994-1-2 deals with the design, calculation and dimensioning of composite steel and concrete structures for he exceptional situation of fire exposure and is intended to be used in conjunction with EN 1994-1-1 and EN 1991-1-2. This standard only refers to differences from, or supplements to, design at normal ambient temperatures; active fire prevention methods are not taken into account. This standard applies to composite structures that are required to fulfil certain functions for fire prevention reasons when exposed to fire, in terms of: - avoiding premature collapse of the structure (load bearing function), - limiting fire spread (flame, hot gases, excessive hat) beyond designated areas (separating function). European Corrigendum EN 1994-1-2:2005/AC:2008 has been incorporated into this new edition. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-52-22 AA "Konstruktiver baulicher Brandschutz (Spiegelausschuss zu Teilbereichen von CEN/TC 250)" ("Structural fire protection (Mirror Committee to parts of CEN/TC 250)") at DIN.
