Overview

Information systems for Public Transport need information related to objects or events of the real world, such as bus stops, beacons, points of interest, access points to train stations, vehicles, traffic lights, accidents, works (etcetera). It is possible to classify these data into three families: - fixed objects - mobile objects - events. Various requirements (simple, complex, different operators, infrastructure, etcetera) for fixed objects lead to various national solutions for representation of information in public transport. As the identification of fixed objects needs to be managed at a national level, this standard should take into account individual national organisational models for administrative data because of typically large number of stops and their geographical conditions typically resulting in distributed processes with various parties.
