Overview

The standards of the EN 2997 series describe electrical connectors, circular, coupled by threaded ring, fire-resistant or non fire-resistant, operating temperatures -65 °C to 175 °C continuous or 200 °C continuous, 260 °C peak. Part 001 specifies the general characteristics, the conditions for qualification acceptance and quality assurance, and the test programs and groups for threaded ring coupling circular connectors according to the classes and models. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 2997-001:2008-09: a) update of the normative references; b) consideration of size 22 contacts; c) consideration of connector class SV; d) in 6.2, incorporation of Figure 2 with coupling dimensions for connector with housing 8, 10 and 12 for size 22 contact; d) modification of values for D in Table 1; f) incorporation of size 22 contact in Table 2; g) in 6.3, incorporation of Figure 4 with coupling dimensions for plugs with housings 8, 10 and 12 for size 22 contacts; h) modification of the values for B in Table 3; i) incorporation of 6.5.2 "Dimensions of the rear cable entry (Integrated cable outlet)" with the respective figures and Table 8 with dimensions for models A, B and C and D (Classes KV and SV only); j) in 6.6, incorporation of different contact arrangements for size 22 contacts; k) incorporation of size 22 contacts and consideration for the tests in 6.7; l) update of tests in 7; m) revision and extension of 7.2 "Special test" by clauses on the endurance at temperature, fire resistance test, high vibration endurance test and fluid resistance; n) revision of Table 15 with regard to the number of samples per test group; o) in 8.2.4, incorporation of the new test groups 17 (high vibration endurance) and 18 (fire resistance); p) in 8.2.4, incorporation of new test groups 3 (sinusoidal and random vibration) and 4 (high vibration endurance) These standards of the EN 2997 standard series have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-03 AA "Elektrische Verbindungselemente" ("Connector") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
