Overview

This standard applies for the safety of battery chargers for household and similar use which supply safety extra-low voltage and the rated voltage of which is not more than 250 V. Annex AA of the standard contains requirements for battery chargers which are used by children of at least 8 years of age without supervision. Battery chargers which are not intended for normal household use but which can still present a source of danger for the general public, such as appliances which are intended to be used in garages, shops, commercial enterprises and in agriculture, are within the scope of this standard. By incorporating Amendment A2:2010-02 into the European Standard EN 60335-2-29:2004, the "Introduction" and the clauses 1 "Scope", 7 "Supply connection and external conductors", 19 "Abnormal operation", 22 "Construction" and the "Bibliography" have been supplemented or changed. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-operated appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) of DIN and VDE.
