This standard deals with the safety of portable electric immersion heaters for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. By the amendments the number of users is increased; the operation of the appliance with an external timer or remote control is prohibited. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.10 "Kleingeräte" ("Small appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
