This standard contains terms and methods of tests for positive temperature coefficient thermistors, insulated and non-insulated types typically made from ferro-electric semi-conductor materials. The standard introduces terms and definitions, control and test methods intended for use in detail specifications for qualification approval and quality assessment systems for electronic components. At DIN and VDE the responsible Committee is K 614 "Temperatur- und spannungsabhängige Widerstände" ("Thermistors and varistors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies).
