DIN EN 60947-3:2012-12

This standard applies to switches, disconnectors, switch-disconnectors and fuse combination units to be used in distribution circuits and motor circuits of which the rated voltage does not exceed 1 000 V a.c. or 1 500 V d.c. The manufacturer shall specify the type, ratings and characteristics according to the relevant standard of any incorporated fuses. This standard does not apply to equipment falling into the scope of IEC 60947-2, IEC 60947-4-1 and IEC 60947-5-1. However, when switches and fuse-combination units falling into the scope of this standard are normally used to start, accelerate and/or stop an individual motor they shall also comply with the additional requirements given in Annex A. Annex C contains the requirements for single pole operated three pole switches. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 60947-3 (VDE 0660-107):2010-02: - terms and definitions in clause 2 have been revised and new definitions and symbols for devices, single break and double break, have been introduced; - requirements for materials and clearance and creepage distance have been deleted, IEC 60947-1 applies; - requirements for equipment for closing operation of devices in the open position have been deleted, IEC 60947-1 applies; - requirements for degrees of protection of encapsulated devices have been deleted, IEC 60947-1 applies; - requirements for limit values for operation of power-driven devices, for undervoltage relays and releases and shunt releasers have been deleted, IEC 60947-1 applies; - EMC requirements have been updated; - temperature rise test in test sequence I has been revised. The responsible committee is K 431 "Niederspannungsschaltgeräte und -kombinationen" ("Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
