Overview

This standard of the DIN EN 60974 (VDE 0544) "Arc welding equipment" shall be applied together with basic standard DIN EN 60974-1 (VDE 0544-1). It specifies safety and construction requirements for torches for arc welding and allied processes and is applicable to manual, mechanically guided, air-cooled, liquid-cooled, motorized, spool-on and fume extraction torches. This new edition includes modified new requirements for the degree of protection of the torch coupling device and new requirements for flammability for tools. The responsible committee is DKE/K 361 "Lichtbogenschweißeinrichtungen" ("Electric arc welding equipment") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
