DIN VDE 0620-1:2016-01

This standard applies to fixed socket-outlets only for alternating current, with or without earthing contact, with a rated voltage of more than 50 V but not more than 440 V, and with a rated current not exceeding 32 A, which are intended for domestic use or similar purposes, either indoors or outdoors. The rated current is limited to 16 A for socket-outlets equipped with screwless terminals. This standard does not cover requirements for flush-mounted boxes. It only deals with those requirements for surface-mounted boxes necessary for tests on socket-outlets. This standard also applies for socket-outlets which are part of a fixed device, unless otherwise specified in the standard for the respective device, and for socket-outlets for difficult conditions as well as for socket-outlets with miniature fuses according to the DIN EN 60127 (VDE 0820) series. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 542.1 "Schalter und Steckvorrichtungen für den Hausgebrauch und ähnliche Zwecke" ("Switches and plug and socket devices for household and similar purposes") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
