This generic standard applies to the repair (overhaul) of electrical cable systems and to work on the extension of existing electrical cable systems, especially on German Navy vessels. Two existing regulations on this subject, the working instruction of the "E-Gemeinschaft Fregatte 123" and the "BWB-Richtlinie über die Verbindung und Instandsetzung von Starkstrom- und Fernmelde-Marinekabel" (BWB Guideline on the Connection and Repair of Power and Telecommunications Marine Cables), have been combined in this standard and the content subsequently updated to the state of the art.
