This DIN SPEC specifies geometrical and technical requirements as well as requirements for the design and manufacture for pedestrian parapets on roads or bicycle paths, pedestrian or bridle paths, or on top of retaining walls and on similar elevated structures. The European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 226 "Road equipment" (secretariat: AFNOR, France) in WG 1 "Crash barriers, safety fences, guard rails and bridge parapets" (chairmanship: AFNOR, France). Regarding the German collaboration the responsible committee at DIN is Working Committee NA 005-10-21 AA "Passive Schutzeinrichtungen" ("Passive protection equipment") which is also appointed as mirror committee at NABau.
