Overview

This Technical Specification has been prepared by CEN/TC 260 "Fertilizers and liming materials" (secretariat: DIN), by Working Group WG 3 "Fertilizers and liming materials", under German chairmanship and with the active collaboration of German experts. The national Mirror Committee is Working Committee NA 057-03-02 AA "Düngemittel" ("Fertilizers") of the Food and Agricultural Products Standards Committee (NAL).
During transport and storage of granulated liming materials a certain formation of dust is to be expected, depending on quality and stability of products. In order to be able to determine the tendency to form dust as a quality parameter, the method specified in this document has been developed. The determination of the amount of dust is carried out by means of sieving the test portion before and after treatment in the test device described in this document and specifically designed for this purpose. Test sieves according to ISO 565 and ISO 3310-1 are used. A formation of dust which can be expected during transport and storage is simulated in the test device. The test method applies to all granulated and screened liming materials. Validation of the method is planned. In order to first gain experience when applying the test device and to allow other interested laboratories to establish the preconditions for implementation of a new test method, the document is published as a Technical Specification for the time being.
