The aim of this Supplement is to provide persons dealing with the planning, erection and maintenance of electrical installations with information for the construction and function of residual current devices and operating instructions for their use and application. These operating instructions deal with residual current devices (RCDs) with rated voltages not exceeding 440 V a.c. and rated currents not exceeding 125 A, intended principally for protection against shock hazard for household and similar uses. They provide the user (for example, electrician and electrical planner) with additional information on the choice and application of RCDs within the framework of installation regulations. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 541.3 "Fehlerstrom-Schutzeinrichtungen" ("Residual current devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
