DIN ISO/TS 22003:2014-11

Worldwide, food safety is the primary aim in the food chain. This also resulted, in addition to the activities in legislation and the Codex Alimentarius Commission, in the preparation of standards for the manufacture and provision of safe food by various national institutes. In view of the variety of various standards and guidelines in the field of food safety and increasing globalization of trade with food, with ISO 22000 "Food safety management systems - Requirements for any organization in the food chain" an International Standard has been created which provides a uniform framework for all parties involved in the entire food chain. In addition to ISO 22000 specifying the requirements for management for food safety, the Technical Specification ISO/TS 22003 has been developed to assist in the certification of FSMS that fulfil the requirements of ISO 22000 ("Food safety management systems - Requirements for any organization in the food chain"). This Technical Specification can also be used for certification of other management systems for food safety. The aim of this Technical Specification is to be used as a criteria document for the accreditation or peer assessment of certification bodies which are competent to certify that an FSMS complies with ISO 22000. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 057-02-02 AA "Lebensmittelsicherheit - Management-Systeme" ("Food safety management systems") of the DIN Standards Committee Food and Agricultural Products (NAL).
