EPS products with a better reaction to fire than Euroclass F shall be manufactured from raw materials with a chemical composition which is subject to the control of the raw material manufacturer. This Technical Report specifies the conditions for reducing the frequency of factory production control for testing the reaction to fire of test specimen made from flame retardant EPS raw materials. It is assumed that the products are solely manufactured from a prescribed certified raw material with specified limitations regarding density and as specified by the raw material supplier. The finished product testing frequency can be reduced in accordance with EN 13163:2008, Annex B, Table B.2, footnote h. The reaction to fire of the raw material shall be indicated in the certificate of an approved testing laboratory in accordance with 9.2 (see EN 13173, 5.3.3, and Annex A). The certification of the raw material only relates to products for which Euroclass E in accordance with EN 13501-1 regarding the reaction to fire is used. The manufacturer of the EPS sheets/products remains responsible for the factory production control of EPS sheets/products. This Technical Report meets the general specifications of EN 13172.
