Overview

This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS method specifies a classification of Ambient Assistant Living (AAL) services in the home environment and immediate vicinity of the home. For this purpose, fundamental terms and definitions are initially defined. Along with the classification into different classes, all services are described using standardized criteria to enable better comparison of the services and, for instance, to allow for conclusions about their respective complexity. Purely technical AAL services which create an added value for the customers without the participation of other actors (for instance, building automation services) are not the subject of this document. This DIN Specification has been initiated from the research project "Standards für wohnungsbegleitende Dienstleistungen im Kontext des demografischen Wandels und der Potenziale der Mikrosystemtechnik - STADIWAMI" ("Specifications for home services in the context of demographic change and the potential for microsystem technology - STADIWAMI"). The project (project number: 01FC08013) is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the framework of the initiative "Technologie und Dienstleistungen im demografischen Wandel" ("Technology and services in demographic change").
