Overview

This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS procedure was developed within a workshop set up on a temporary basis. The DIN SPEC was developed and approved by the authors named in the foreword. This DIN SPEC covers Horizontal Directional Drilling-Radar (HDD-radar) procedures based on the HDD using fluids as the drilling agent. HDD methods are used for the trenchless installation of pipelines, ducts and cables, sewers and drains, geotechnical elements and other applications. To ensure a consistent quality standard during the process, the planned DIN SPEC describes the requirements, quality assurance and testing for HDD-radar by taking into account the specifications of applicable technical standards. The consideration of these standards is indispensable for horizontal directional drilling processes according to best practice criteria. It provides the basis for specifications for the procurement of these services. DVGW GW 321 already offers an excellent basis for the use of HDD technology in the gas and water sector. With this DIN SPEC, the HDD processes should also be used in wastewater management and in energy and communication line construction, however.
