The guideline describes aim and significance of the guidelines on "maximum immission values". These values are established by the VDI-Kommission Reinhaltung der Luft (commission on air pollution prevention of the association of german engineers) and represent the findings of experts. According to the task assigned to the VDI-Kommission Reinhaltung der Luft they are intended to aid in the decision making process for deriving legal standards without being directly related to legal regulations concerning protective measures against immissions.
