Short description
The standard describes a method for properly taking into account steep terrain in the dispersion calculation according to TA Luft and GIRL. It relies on wind field calculations with mesoscale prognostic non-hydrostatic models in accordance with VDI 3783 Part 7. This type of model is especially suitable for flow calculation in steep terrain, due to the underlying physical-mathematical system of equations. The method includes creating a wind field library for performing dispersion calculations. It is suitable both for dispersion calculations based on meteorological time series and for those based on a meteorological frequency distribution. This standard describes the concept, and defines requirements for the prognostic model calculations and for transferring the results to a wind field library. In addition, it discusses how the anemometer position for providing meteorological variables for the dispersion calculation should be determined, in cases where these measurements have to be transferred from a location outside into the calculation area.
