The aim of this guideline is to provide information to help explain the causes of failure in the field of hot dip galvanising. With regard to quality assurance measures in the manufacturing chain, from the technical designer to the galvanizer, the guideline may also help prevent costly and sometimes dangerous errors occurring. Amongst others the guideline describes the liquid metal induced cracking mechanism, process variables, the sphere of influence of construction and galvanizing plant and exemplary damages and consequential damages. Support and guidance on dealing with actual examples of failure can be found.
