Short description
The document explains the mechanism of lidar systems (Light Detection And Ranging oder Light Identification, Detection And Ranging) and describes how the systems must be handled in order to provide valid measurements. In addition, performance characteristics are defined and specified and examples of typical application are shown. Safety problems are not discussed. It describes Differential Absorption and Scattering, or DAS, lidar. DAS lidar is a depth-resolving technique, synonymously with DAS lidar, the term DIAL (Differential Absorption Lidar) is also used in the literature.
