Short description
Stress analyses requires knowledge of fundamentals of strain measurement, as well as experience in the selection of suitable strain gauges on a wide variety of components. Measurements in high-temperature areas are much more complex and there are a variety of additional influences to be observed. The revised standard represents a guide in the selection of high-temperature strain sensors which are mounted directly on the surface of the test object and whose sensor element experiences the temperature of the test object surface. The standard explains the concepts of high-temperature strain measuring technology and selection criteria for strain gauge. The current high-temperature strain sensors function principles, main features and typical applications are specified. Also, recommendations for the appropriate preparation, implementation, error assessment and analysis of strain measurements in high-temperature, which have proven themselves in measurement practise, are given. The information refers to the measurement of static stretching. Recommendations are also given for dynamic strain measurement. With regard to the temperature range in which the standard is applicable, it follows the standard VDI/VDE 2635 Part 1, whereby in the transition range of 120 °C to 350 °C, the two standards overlap. The standard is aimed at manufacturers and users of high-temperature strain gauge.
