Short description
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an optical measurement technique based on interferometry, which can be used to generate tomographic cross-section images of transparent and semitransparent materials. OCT enables high-resolution images with resolutions in the micrometer range by measuring the backscattered reflected light. The use of spectral broadband light enables absolute distance measurements. Applications of OCT are in biomedical diagnostics and in industrial applications for material and defect testing. The standard addresses suppliers, system integrators and users of OCT systems with both process variants time domain and Fourier domain. The standard applies to both medical and industrial applications.
