Short description
Asphalt is used as an important building material in traffic route construction, structural engineering, as well as in hydraulic engineering and landfill construction. For this purpose, approx. 40 million tonnes of asphalt mix are currently produced annually in Germany in approx. 550 asphalt mixing plants, almost exclusively stationary. Moreover, asphalt is more suitable for reuse than almost any other building material, so that the recycling technology of asphalt mixing plants has been continuously further improved and today more than 80 % of reclaimed asphalt can be returned to the material cycle. The standard describes the state of the art of these plants with a focus on emission reduction measures. All process stages from storage of the raw materials, mix production, recycling of reclaimed asphalt to loading of the finished asphalt mix are taken into account. In addition, the emission measurement technology at these plants is discussed. This standard does not apply to plants that aim at an unbound form of recycling of reclaimed asphalt (e.g. building rubble processing plants). The standard is primarily addressed to operators of asphalt mixing plants as well as competent authorities, experts and measuring institutes.
