This standard details and amends the requirements of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 on test laboratories performing microbiological examinations (sampling and laboratory examinations) at cooling systems, cooling towers and wet separators, and the requirements of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020 for inspection bodies type A performing checks of the correct plant operation of cooling systems, cooling towers and wet separators. It serves in conjunction with these standards as the basis for the competence assessment of these bodies in the context of accreditation procedures of these bodies. In addition to the impartiality requirements laid down in the standards, this standard also specifies requirements for the independence and reliability of these bodies. This standard helps to ensure that standardized procedures are used by test laboratories when implementing DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and by inspection bodies type A when implementing DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020, and that uniform standards are set for their verification by accreditation bodies. In Annex A, this standard describes the assignment of test and inspection tasks on cooling systems, cooling towers, and wet separators to test areas. This standard is aimed at test laboratories, accreditation bodies, and competent authorities in the field of immission control.
