This Technical Specification is a guide for craftsmen for whom it is necessary, within the scope of their professional activity, to measure combustion parameters of gas-fired central heating boilers by means of devices for measuring combustion parameters. It constitutes a guide for the selection, use and maintenance of portable electrical equipment complying with EN 50379-1 and EN 50379-2 or EN 50379-3. It is designed for the measurement of combustion parameters of Type A, Type B and Type C gas-fired equipment where the operating instructions or the design of the equipment prohibits the sampling of combustion gas and all gas-fired equipment for which the gas appliance manufacturer provides a sampling point for this purpose or provides specific information on sampling. Further, it serves as a diagnostic tool to assist craftsmen in confirming satisfactory combustion. This includes commissioning, maintenance, and repair, in accordance with the facility's operating manual, national or local codes, or standards or maintenance regulations. The current amendment removes the limitation of scope to the use of portable electrical equipment to measure combustion parameters of gas-fired central heating boilers, so the guide now includes gas-fired central heating boilers, gas-fired air heaters, gas-fired space heaters, gas cooking appliances, and gas-fired water heating appliances. The responsible committee is UK 966.1 "Mess- und Warngeräte für gefährliche Gase" ("Measurement and warning devices for dangerous gases") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
