Overview

This document applies to refrigerators and freezers for laboratory applications equipped with a device for refrigeration and used for storing refrigerated substances for laboratory use at a temperature of -150 °C to +15 °C. The temperature of the installation room is in the range of 10 °C to 35 °C. The relative humidity may be up to 75 %. This standard specifies general, safety and hygienic requirements as well as tests for, for example, load-bearing capacity of the storage surfaces, tightness of door or lid, stability, product and ambient temperature and energy absorption. This standard does not apply to cooled incubators in accordance with DIN 12880; refrigerated cells or refrigerated containers >2 000 l and to refrigeration during transport. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 063-02-06 AA "Kühl- und Gefriergeräte für Arzneimittel" ("Refrigerators and freezers for pharmaceuticals") at DIN Standards Committee Medicine (NAMed).
